Why Can't I Find a Matter in Brightflag?
If you're unable to find a matter in Brightflag, it could be due to insufficient access permissions or being signed into a different office/firm than the one with which the matter was shared. The matters you can access as a Brightflag vendor depend on your access level.
Checking Your Access Permissions
To determine if you have the necessary access:
-
Contact your Firm’s Admin user – they can check your permissions and ensure you have access to the required matters.
Note: Brightflag Support cannot provide or modify access to matters. This must be done by your Law Firm's Admin.
Checking Other Offices
To switch between your offices, simply click your username in the upper right corner of the website, followed by clicking on the current firm/office/client or follow the steps outlined at How to Switch Between Clients, Firms, and Offices
Steps for Admin Users
If your client has granted you Admin access to Brightflag, follow these steps to manage access levels for users at your firm:
- Verify your Admin status – Ensure you have Admin permissions to manage users at your Law Firm.
- Manage user access – Admins can assign access to matters for colleagues up to the Vendor Office Admin level.
- Add a colleague to a Matter – Click here for instructions on adding a colleague to a Matter.
💡 Tip: Only Admin users can manage access for other users. If you're not an Admin, reach out to your Law Firm’s Admin user for assistance.
What if You Still Can’t Find the Matter?
If you have Admin access but still can't find a matter, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
- Matter not yet requested or created: Some clients don’t allow law firms to request or create new matters.
- Matter assigned to the wrong office location: The matter might be assigned to an incorrect office location within your firm.
In these cases:
-
Contact your client directly to request the matter be created or shared with your office.
⚠️ Important: Brightflag Support cannot create new matters. Only your client can authorize the creation and assignment of matters.
Troubleshooting Access Issues
Follow these steps to troubleshoot your access:
- Confirm Admin status – Ensure you have the appropriate Admin permissions for your Law Firm.
- Check with your client – Verify if your client allows matter requests or if the matter needs to be shared.
- Review office location assignments – Ensure that the matter is assigned to the correct office in Brightflag.
📌 Please Note: If access issues persist after completing the above steps, you may need to contact your Law Firm’s Admin or your client for further assistance.
