You can’t find a Matter after searching, or
A Matter doesn’t appear when you expect it to
❓ Why Can’t I Find or Select a Matter?
This issue almost always falls into one of the scenarios below. Follow the steps provided.
1️⃣ You’re Logged Into the Wrong Client or Office
What this looks like
You know the Matter exists (or the client has confirmed it exists)
You can’t find it anywhere in Brightflag
Why this happens
Matters are assigned by the client to a specific office location
If you’re logged into a different office, the Matter will not be visible
What to do
Search for the Matter again in each office
2️⃣ The Matter Has Not Been Shared With You or Created Yet
What this looks like
No results appear when you search for the Matter using the correct details
Why this happens
The client has not shared the Matter with your firm or user, or
The Matter has not been created yet
What to do

Contact your client and ask them to:
Confirm the Matter has been created, and
Share the Matter with your firm
If you are responsible for creating or requesting the Matter, follow the steps in Matter Creation & Requests
📌 Brightflag Support cannot grant Matter access or create Matters.
3️⃣ The Matter Is Closed
Why this happens
Closed Matters cannot accept invoices
What to do

Contact your client and ask them to either:
Reopen the Matter, or
Create a new Matter for billing
