Use the sections below to quickly identify why the currency field is unavailable and how to fix it.
1️⃣ Currency Field Is Greyed Out or Empty
What’s happening
The Currency drop-down will remain disabled until a Matter is selected.
Why this happens
Brightflag only displays currencies that are allowed for the selected Matter.
How to fix it
- Select a Matter using the Matter Search bar at the top of the page
- Once the Matter is selected, the Currency field will automatically populate
ℹ️ Tip: This is expected behavior. The currency cannot be chosen before a Matter.
2️⃣ Matter Selected, but the Currency You Need Is Missing
What’s happening
You selected a Matter, but the required currency does not appear in the list.
Why this happens
Each client controls which currencies are allowed per Matter. If a currency isn’t listed, it hasn’t been enabled by your client.
How to fix it
- Contact your client directly and ask them to add the missing currency
- Once updated, refresh the upload page and reselect the Matter
⚠️ Important: Brightflag Support cannot add currencies on your behalf.
3️⃣ No Matters Appear in the Matter Search Drop-down
What’s happening
You cannot select a Matter, so the Currency field remains unavailable.
Why this happens
You may not have access to any Matters under the office you’re currently logged into.
How to fix it
- Follow the steps in our Troubleshooting Guide or contact your client
4️⃣ Not Sure Which Matter to Select?
If you’re unsure which Matter applies to your invoice, Brightflag cannot determine this for you.
How to fix it
- Reach out to your client to confirm the correct Matter before submitting the invoice
