How Do I Find a Matter ID for LEDES Files or Timekeeper Matter Rate Requests?

Some submissions—such as LEDES invoices or matter-based timekeeper rate requests—require the Client Matter ID.

This is a Matter ID defined by the client, not Brightflag.

📌 This is not the Brightflag Matter Reference.


🔍 How to Find the Client Matter ID

1️⃣ Go to Menu > Matters > View Matters
2️⃣ Locate the relevant Matter
3️⃣ Look for the Client Matter ID column

If the Client Matter ID is blank or missing, contact your client and ask them to update it.

📄 When Is This ID Required?

  • LEDES invoice submissions

  • Matter-based timekeeper rate requests

When included correctly, Brightflag can automatically associate the submission with the correct Matter.


⚠️ Important Notes

  • Brightflag Support cannot create or edit Client Matter IDs

  • If you’re unsure which ID to use, confirm with your client
