LEDES Error: BF101 Invalid File Extension

  • Updated

What This Error Means

You are uploading a LEDES invoice, but the file type is not allowed.

Brightflag accepts these file extensions:

  • .doc

  • .docx

  • .pdf

  • .xls

  • .xlsx

  • .jpeg

  • .jpg

  • .png

  • .txt

  • .xml

  • .msg

  • .ppt

  • .pptx

  • .eml

  • .tif

  • .tiff

For LEDES invoices, the file is usually a .txt file.

If your file ends in something else, you will receive error BF101.

How to Resolve It

  1. Look at the file name you are trying to upload.

  2. Check the last part of the file name (for example: .txt).

  3. Make sure it matches one of the allowed extensions listed above.

If it does not:

  • Go back to your billing system.

  • Export the invoice again in the correct format (usually .txt for LEDES).

Do not simply rename the file (for example, changing .pdf to .txt).
The file must be properly generated in the correct format.

Once you have a correctly formatted file, upload it again.
