What This Error Means
This error occurs when Brightflag detects a conflict with a Timekeeper ID during a bulk submission.
In most cases, it happens for one of two reasons.
Scenario 1: You Tried to Change a Timekeeper’s Name Using the Bulk Submit Template
Why This Happens
Timekeeper names cannot be updated via bulk upload.
If you change a timekeeper’s name in the Excel template and re-upload it, Brightflag treats this as a conflict and returns the “LEDES Timekeeper ID Already In Use” error.
How to Fix It
Update the timekeeper’s name manually instead:
Go to Menu > Timekeepers.
Find the timekeeper.
Click the pencil (edit) icon next to their name.
Update the name and save.
📌 Important:
Do not change timekeeper names in the bulk upload file.
Scenario 2: The Same Timekeeper ID Is Used More Than Once
Why This Happens
Each timekeeper must have a unique Timekeeper ID.
This error appears if:
The same ID is used for multiple timekeepers, or
The same ID appears more than once in the upload file.
How to Fix It
Ensure each timekeeper has a unique ID.
Remove any duplicate rows from the file.
Re-upload the corrected file.
Key Takeaways
Timekeeper names must be updated manually in Brightflag.
Timekeeper IDs must be unique.
The same Timekeeper ID cannot be assigned to more than one timekeeper.
